What ISO 5675 Is

ISO 5675 is the international standard for hydraulic quick-action couplers used on agricultural tractors and implements — the standard rear couplers on the tractor’s hydraulic outlets that connect to trailed and mounted implements. It’s a ball-lock design, physically similar to ISO 7241 but with its own dimensions, so ag couplers and industrial couplers are not interchangeable.

Key characteristics of the ISO 5675 ag coupler:

  • Ball-lock mechanism with sleeve release.
  • Sizes centered on 1/2” and 3/4” (the two hydraulic outlet sizes on most tractors), with 1/4” and 1” also available.

The physical similarity fools people: an ag nipple will sometimes start to enter an industrial coupler, but the groove position and poppet depth differ, so it won’t seal or lock. Always match by standard, never by “it looks about the same.”

Where Ag Couplers Live on a Tractor

A modern tractor has several coupling points:

Retrofit and Replacement Checklist

Replacing ag couplers (or adding outlets) — the field checklist:

  1. Identify the outlet size — measure the existing nipple or the outlet port: 1/2” vs 3/4” is the first decision.
  2. Confirm the standard — ISO 5675 for tractor outlets. If an implement came with non-standard couplers, replace the pair on the implement side to ISO 5675.

Q: Can I use industrial ISO 7241 couplers on my tractor? A: Not mixed with ag implements. Convert the whole line (tractor outlet + implement pair) to one standard. Mixing standards on the same implement circuit is a leak and a stuck-coupling waiting to happen.
